The Sketching tin (Upgraded)

Regular price $45.00

The Sketching tin is a portable kit for drawing and painting. It's carefully designed by artists for:

Travel sketching - these versatile materials are compact and convenient to use.

En plein air painting - the dynamic nature of watercolours allow artists to swiftly capture even dynamic subjects and scenery.

Space saving - Save time finding, choosing and storing your art materials by having a complete kit for drawing and painting at hand's reach. Great for use at home or carried every day for using while you're sitting in a coffee shop, hiking on a trail or wherever else you find yourself.

Colour-mixing - Each colourway is specially selected to create a broad range of colours. Painting with a limited palette encourages development of colour mixing skills and creates harmonious and atmospheric artworks.

It's small enough to pop in your pocket or bag and carry with you at all times at 9.5 x 6.2 x 2.2 cm (3.7 x 2.4 x 0.9 inches).

Just fill the brush with water before you head out and you have everything you need to draw and paint.

Each tin contains:

1. Three half pans of exceptionally highly pigmented watercolours, made from pure pigments mixed with natural gum arabic. Each colour way is carefully selected to mix a beautiful spectrum of colours. Just slide out the metal holder to change the colour way.

2. A water brush in two parts with a stopper. Store water in the barrel and screw on the brush when you're ready to paint. Secure the stopper in the inlay of the tin, to keep it safe while you use your brush.

3. A soft 2b grade graphite & carbon pencil. All the shading capabilities of a graphite pencil but with a punchy matte, black colour that will not reflect light. This is especially useful when photographing your sketches.

4. A wooden pencil extender with a metal collar.

5. A metal pencil sharpener with spare blade attached.

6. A putty eraser to correct & highlight your pencil marks. Knead eraser to clean or  reshape it.

7. A sketchbook with 16 pages of 200gsm/95lbs, hot press, acid free, 100% cotton paper. This pocket sized book measures 9cm x 7cm (3 1/2" x 2 3/4") (closest to A7).

All this creative potential is snugly contained in a tin smaller than a phone. The inside of the lid of the tin is ideal for use as a mixing palette and each tin comes with a cotton cuff around it for wiping excess pigment. In the box that contains your tin, you will also find a colour wheel card to demonstrate your chosen colourway and The Sketching Guide, full of tips and ideas about your tin and how to use it.

The Sketching tin is petrol blue coloured on the outside. The lid is illustrated with a monochrome scene of the beautiful Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, Canada - where Joan of Art HQ is located.
